Nairobi safari tours — your questions answered
Which national parks are best for a short safari from Nairobi?
The Masai Mara (4–5 hours' drive) offers the best year-round game viewing and, from July to October, the Great Migration. Amboseli sits closer to Nairobi and pairs elephant herds with views of Kilimanjaro. Tsavo East and West are less crowded, with red-dust elephants and the Mzima Springs underwater hippo viewpoint.
What animals will I see on a 2–4 day safari?
All Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino — are possible within this timeframe, especially in the Mara or at Ol Pejeta, a dedicated rhino sanctuary. Giraffe, zebra and over 1,000 recorded bird species round out most itineraries.
How much does a short Kenya safari cost?
Our fixed 2–4 day departures start from €285 per person for a 2-day Rift Valley lakes trip, up to around €715 for a 4-day Masai Mara safari. Price depends on the park, lodge category and season. Contact us for an exact quote.
Do I need to book in advance?
Not necessarily. These are daily-departure safaris, so you can often book the day before. That said, peak season (July–October) fills lodges fast — booking a few weeks ahead secures better accommodation choice.
What is included — accommodation, meals, transport?
All listed safaris include 4x4 transport with a driver-guide, park entry fees, accommodation (lodge or tented camp) and most meals. Exact inclusions vary by itinerary — we confirm everything in writing before you pay a deposit.
Can I combine two parks in one short safari?
Yes. Several of our 3 and 4-day itineraries already combine two parks — Tsavo East with Tsavo West, or Amboseli with Tsavo West. Tell us your interests and we can adjust any itinerary to fit.
